How to Make People Respect You
3 minutes that might change your life
Leadership
“In order to properly delegate, you need to properly demonstrate.” - Leila Hormozi
To be respected, one needs to learn how to speak like a leader.
True leadership creates an environment where it’s easy for people to hit their personal goals and the business goals.
When you make a decision, think about how to make it a win-win for the customer, the business, the employee, the partner, and yourself.
Storytelling is powerful. Framing your decisions and position can inspire others to follow your lead.
Think about: “How can I make sure my team wins so my business wins?” — not the other way around.
Don’t manage people; manage purpose.
If people feel aligned with your purpose and values, they’ll naturally want to follow your lead.
Shared values = shared behavior.
Culture is what you do, not what you say.
Example: You conduct an interview. If someone tells you they’re honest, would you believe them?
Or, if you ask about a weakness and they say they can’t think of any, doesn’t that show they’re not honest?
Great leaders are observers. Watch what your employees do while “you’re not watching.”
When you spot a mistake, DM your employee. See how they react. Does the lesson stick for longer than a week?
When you hire a new person, ask yourself: “Would I want 10 more of this person? What are their deficits?”
Kids don’t do what you tell them — they do what you do. And guess what? It’s 100% the same for your employees.
No one is going to come early for work or go the extra mile if you don’t.
No employee will give 100% of their potential if you don’t give them a chance for ownership or performance bonuses.
Leadership is letting people borrow your confidence in them before they have it for themselves.
2 Ideas for a More Productive Life
Awareness → Observation → Experimentation
Highly productive people focus on awareness of problems, observation without judgment, and experimentation to find solutions.Would you take a short time off to activate awareness of what’s not working for you?
Can you observe problems without judgment?
Do you actively experiment to find solutions for your distractions or lack of focus?
2. Split a virtual assistant with your business partner
You can hire a part-time person to message you back and forth, nudging you to stay productive.People perform better when they’re observed. Why not have someone do that for you?
